Former Red Bull executive Daniel Sanders has announced his departure from the company to become Tencent Games’ Senior Global Marketing Lead.
According to Sanders’ LinkedIn post, he will oversee esports marketing at Tencent to help ‘take the scene to new heights’.
Sanders started his esports career at Dignitas in 2007 and has since held executive positions at FACEIT, DLC Studios, and most recently, Red Bull. Sanders was the Head of Esports and Gaming Marketing at Red Bull for the last five years.
As a Red Bull executive, Sanders conceptualised and developed the Red Bull Gaming Sphere and led Red Bull’s gaming and esports working group.
At Tencent, Sanders will continue to work on bringing Tencent’s esports titles to more consumers. Tencent is perhaps most known as the majority owner of Riot Games. Moreover, the company is also the publisher of battle royale games PUBG MOBILE and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Tencent’s other esports titles include Honor of Kings, Arena of Valor and CrossFire.
Esports Insider says: Daniel Sanders is a valuable addition to the Tencent team. The gaming company is one of the largest companies in its field in the world. Judging by the recent growth Riot Games, as well as the stellar rise of mobile esports in Asia, Sanders joins Tencent at a prosperous time.
